Why people choose Advanced

Most people book Advanced because they have never had a thorough look at their health, or because the last check was a quick appointment and a printout. Some come because a result from work or the NHS did not quite add up.

Many come back every year. The value is in seeing how the numbers move, with a doctor who knows what they were last time and what has changed in your life since.

That is what we mean by high tech, high touch, high trust.

Your screening begins with a full review of your medical and family history. Your GP will take time to understand your background properly, identify any high-risk markers in your family history, and conduct a thorough clinical examination. Blood samples and a urine analysis are collected during this visit, so everything is handled in one appointment. This is a proper clinical consultation with a qualified GP, not a tick-box exercise.

Our blood panel covers over 100 biomarkers across the key areas of health, going considerably further than a standard NHS health check or occupational health screen. This includes advanced lipid analysis with lipoprotein(a). One of the most important cardiovascular risk markers, not included in a standard cholesterol test. Your GP will go through every result with you at your follow-up consultation.

The panel includes:

Full haematology profile

Kidney function

Liver function

Calcium and bone profile

Iron status

Thyroid function

Vitamin D

Advanced lipid analysis including lipoprotein(a)

Diabetes screening including glucose and HbA1c

Urine analysis

Your screening includes established cancer screening tests, chosen according to your age, sex and history. A bowel cancer screening test (FIT) looks for tiny amounts of blood in a stool sample, which can be an early sign of bowel cancer or pre-cancerous polyps. Men are offered a PSA blood test after discussing its benefits and limitations with their GP, since a raised result can have causes other than cancer. Women who are due are offered cervical screening, which tests for high-risk HPV, the virus behind most cervical cancers.

We take standard measurements including weight, height, BMI, and waist circumference, and use bioimpedance analysis to measure your body fat percentage and muscle mass. Together these give a more complete picture of your body composition than BMI alone, which can miss significant differences in muscle and fat distribution between people of the same weight.

Our cardiovascular screening goes beyond a standard cholesterol check. It includes a resting electrocardiogram, a full cardiovascular risk assessment, and an advanced lipid panel covering HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, Triglycerides and lipoprotein(a). Lipoprotein(a) is one of the most clinically significant cardiovascular risk markers and is not included in a standard NHS cholesterol test. Knowing your level can significantly change your estimated risk.

At the end of your results review, your GP will build a personalised prevention plan based on what your results actually show. This covers your cardiovascular risk, any relevant cancer screening recommendations, nutrition, exercise, and any further investigations your doctor thinks would be worthwhile. You leave with a clear set of priorities, written specifically for you, not a generic lifestyle leaflet.

Once your results are ready, you will meet with your GP to go through everything in detail. Your doctor will explain every result in plain language, confirm your prevention plan, and discuss any further checks or referrals that would be beneficial. We have strong relationships with specialist consultants and imaging centres across London and can refer you directly where needed. This consultation is included in your fee and can be done in person at our Fulham clinic, by video, or by telephone, whichever works best for you.

How Your Screening Works

Step One

GP assessment and samples

A 90-minute consultation at our Fulham clinic. Your GP takes your full medical and family history, examines you, and collects your blood, urine and oral health samples.

Step Two

Results and your prevention plan

A 30-minute consultation with your GP, around a week later, to go through every result and build your personalised prevention plan. It can be in clinic, by video or by telephone.

Step Three

Your 3-month review and ongoing care

After your screening, the same GP team is here for follow-up tests, medication reviews and referrals. Most patients return each year, which shows how their results change over time.

One GP team, start to finish

Your screening is led by a GP, not a technician or a nurse. Your GP reviews your results, builds your prevention plan, and the same team is here afterwards for follow-up tests, medication reviews and your next annual check.

A blood panel that goes further

We measure lipoprotein(a) alongside a full cardiovascular risk profile, an inherited risk factor that a standard cholesterol test does not pick up. Knowing your level can significantly change your estimated risk, and what your GP recommends.

No referral, no waiting list

Book directly, without a GP referral. Most patients are seen within days of getting in touch.

A plan, not just a printout

Most health checks hand you a set of results and leave you to interpret them alone. Your results are explained in plain language, and you leave with a prioritised action plan written specifically for you.

Want the full baseline?

Advanced is designed to be repeated every year. Many patients start with Complete or Ultimate for a full baseline, then return for Advanced each year to track how their results change.

Add to your screening

Most of our patients feel well when they come to us. Feeling well tells you very little about what is happening underneath, because the changes that matter most build over years without symptoms. Raised lipoprotein(a), early metabolic change and thyroid or iron problems are all invisible to how you feel, and most are not covered by a standard health check. For most patients the outcome is reassurance backed by real data. For a small number, we find something at a point where it is easier to treat.

Advanced covers your 90-minute GP assessment, over 100 biomarkers, cardiovascular screening including lipoprotein(a), body composition and a 30-minute results consultation. Complete adds whole body MRI, VO2 max testing, an expanded blood panel including apolipoprotein B and hormones, and a 60-minute results consultation. Ultimate adds genetic testing for inherited cancer risk, a pharmacogenomics report, an oral health screen, a mammogram and breast ultrasound for women, and a review at three months. Many patients start with Complete or Ultimate for a full baseline, then repeat Advanced each year.

Most patients repeat Advanced every year, which lets your GP see how your results change over time and whether lifestyle changes or treatment are working. Your GP will advise on timing based on your results and risk factors. Opal membership includes an Advanced screening every year, alongside unlimited GP appointments.

We recommend fasting for at least eight hours before your assessment so your blood results are as accurate as possible. Water is fine to drink, and you should continue to take any regular medication as normal, including blood pressure tablets and other daily prescriptions. If fasting is difficult for any reason, let your doctor know at the start of your appointment so your results can be interpreted with that in mind. We will confirm all preparation instructions when you book.

We discuss breast screening with every female patient as part of the assessment. A mammogram and breast ultrasound, carried out together at a specialist breast imaging centre, can be added for an additional fee, and are included in Ultimate. The NHS breast screening programme invites women every three years from the age of 50, and we advocate annual mammograms from 40 for women at average risk. Your GP will talk through your options based on your age and family history.

Your 90-minute assessment and all your samples are taken in a single visit to our Fulham clinic. Your results consultation is booked separately, around a week later once your results are ready, and can be in clinic, by video or by telephone.

If your results show anything that needs further investigation, your GP will explain what it means, how certain it is, and what the options are. Many findings need only monitoring or a repeat test. Where further investigation or specialist care is needed, we refer you directly to consultants and imaging centres across London and stay involved in your care. You will not be left to interpret a result on your own.

Yes. We can arrange back-to-back assessments on the same day or on separate days. Please contact us at reception@coynemedical.com to arrange this.

Health screening is not usually covered by standard private medical insurance, since it is preventive rather than treatment. Some corporate and executive benefit packages do include cover, so check directly with your insurer. We can provide a detailed receipt for any claim.

Most blood results are returned within five to seven working days. We will contact you to book your follow-up consultation once everything is ready. If anything needs prompt attention, your GP will contact you sooner.

After your results consultation, the same GP team is here for follow-up tests, medication reviews, referrals and ongoing care. Most patients return each year for a repeat screening. Sage membership includes unlimited GP appointments and Advanced at £700, and Opal includes an Advanced screening every year.

Health screening is exempt from income tax and National Insurance as a benefit in kind, for one screening per employee each year. The same applies if you want to offer screening to your team.
