Why people choose Ultimate
People rarely choose Ultimate because they feel unwell.
More often, something has made them think more seriously about their future health: a parent’s illness, a friend diagnosed at the same age, a family history they have never properly explored, or simply wanting to understand their health as deeply as possible. Ultimate looks not only at what is happening in your body now, but also at risks you may have inherited.
But the value is not simply doing more tests.
One doctor gets to know you, brings together your history, blood results, imaging, fitness, cancer screening, genetics and oral health, and builds a clear prevention plan around what actually matters for you. And they stay involved throughout the year. You have direct email access to your personal doctor and scheduled quarterly check-ins to review progress, follow up anything we have found and adapt your plan as your health changes.
Five connected areas. One health picture.
Five connected areas.
One health picture.
We organise your screening around five key areas of health.
Cancer
Established cancer screening, family history, inherited risk and opportunities for early detection and prevention.
Cardiovascular
Blood pressure, cholesterol, ApoB, lipoprotein(a), cardiovascular fitness and short- and long-term cardiovascular risk.
Metabolic
Glucose regulation, insulin, liver health, visceral fat, body composition and metabolic risk.
Brain
Vascular risk, sleep, metabolic health, fitness and relevant MRI findings that influence long-term brain health.
Inflammation & Oral Health
Inflammatory markers, gum health and oral genomic findings considered alongside wider cardiovascular and metabolic health.
These areas do not exist in isolation. Your doctor brings them together into one prevention plan.
What’s included
Each part of the screening is chosen to answer a different question about your current health, inherited risk and future priorities.
Ultimate is not a one-off health screen.
One doctor oversees your screening from your first consultation onwards, so they know your history, results, inherited risks and the priorities you have agreed together.
Your Ultimate programme includes:
- Direct email access to your personal doctor
- Scheduled quarterly health check-ins throughout the year
- Review of your progress and prevention plan
- Follow-up of abnormal or changing results
- Review of genetic and pharmacogenomic results as they become available
- Coordination of further investigations or specialist referrals where needed
If something needs investigating, treating or monitoring, we stay involved.
Your screening begins with a detailed consultation with your personal doctor.
We review your medical history, family history, lifestyle, current concerns and future health priorities and carry out a full clinical assessment.
Blood, urine and oral health samples are collected during the appointment.
This gives your doctor the context needed to interpret the large amount of information generated by your Ultimate screening.
Our blood panel covers more than 100 biomarkers across cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, inflammatory and general health.
Your doctor reviews these results alongside your imaging, body composition, fitness, genetics, oral health and medical history.
Core panel, included in all screenings:
Full haematology profile
Kidney function
Liver function
Calcium and bone profile
Iron status
Thyroid function
Vitamin D
Advanced lipid analysis including Lipoprotein (a)
Diabetes screening including glucose and HbA1c
Urine analysis
Bowel cancer screen
PSA test (male)
Cervical screening (female)
Additional markers included in the Complete and Ultimate screenings:
Apolipoprotein B
Apolipoprotein A1
High sensitivity C-reactive protein
Fasting insulin
Magnesium
Female hormones: FSH, LH, oestradiol, prolactin
Male hormones: testosterone, SHBG
Additional markers in Ultimate: Vitamin B12, Red Cell Folate
Alongside your imaging and genetic testing, your screening includes established cancer screening tests, chosen according to your age, sex and history. A bowel cancer screening test (FIT) looks for tiny amounts of blood in a stool sample, which can be an early sign of bowel cancer or pre-cancerous polyps. Men are offered a PSA blood test after discussing its benefits and limitations with their GP, since a raised result can have causes other than cancer. Women who are due are offered cervical screening, which tests for high-risk HPV, the virus behind most cervical cancers.
Women having the Ultimate screening also have a mammogram and a breast ultrasound, carried out together at a specialist breast imaging centre in London. The two work together: mammography is the standard screening test for breast cancer, and ultrasound adds detail in dense breast tissue, where a mammogram alone can miss changes.
Your whole-body MRI is conducted at a specialist imaging centre in central London, chosen for its expertise in screening MRI and state-of-the-art 3T technology. The scan covers over 2,000 images from head to pelvis, checking your brain, neck, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, including organs such as your liver, pancreas, bladder, kidneys, gall bladder, and thyroid gland. Every scan is reviewed by two UK radiology consultants to ensure you receive the most accurate report possible.
The scan takes up to 90 minutes. The environment is designed to help you feel at ease, with sound and lighting chosen to help you relax, and the team on hand to talk you through every step. You can take a break if you need one.
Whole body MRI can find cancers and other abnormalities before symptoms appear. In published studies, between 1 and 2 percent of people screened are found to have a previously unknown cancer, and around one in three scans shows a minor finding that may need further testing or monitoring. Your GP will talk you through anything found at your results consultation.
As part of your whole body MRI, we measure your body composition in detail, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat around your internal organs, and liver fat. These measurements are considerably more precise than bioimpedance analysis and give your GP a clear picture of your metabolic health and your risk of conditions including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Visceral fat and liver fat in particular are among the strongest indicators of long-term metabolic risk and are not captured by standard weight or BMI measurements.
Your VO2 max test is conducted at Marylebone Health Group, a short walk from the MRI centre, and can be booked on the same day as your MRI or at a separate time. VO2max, your maximum oxygen uptake, it is one of the strongest predictors of long-term health and longevity, and measures your cardiovascular fitness more accurately than any wearable device.
Following your test, you will receive a personalised exercise prescription based on your individual results, including specific heart rate and power zones for both zone 2 and high-intensity training. This is not a generic fitness plan. It is a precise, data-driven prescription built around your physiology.
Our cardiovascular screening goes considerably beyond a standard cholesterol check, using the most clinically accurate markers available to assess your individual risk.
Resting electrocardiogram
Cardiovascular risk assessment, including 10-year and lifetime risk
Lipid analysis, including HDL Cholesterol and LDL Cholesterol
Advanced lipid analysis, including Lipoprotein (a) and Apolipoprotein B.
Knowing your Lipoprotein(a) and Apolipoprotein B levels gives a far more accurate picture of cardiovascular risk than standard cholesterol testing alone and can significantly change the clinical picture for people who appear low-risk on a basic panel.
Some of the most important health risks cannot be seen on a scan or standard blood test.
Ultimate includes testing for inherited variants associated with increased risk of breast, ovarian, bowel, prostate, pancreatic and other cancers.
Your results are interpreted alongside your personal and family history so that any finding can be translated into an appropriate screening or prevention plan.
Genes tested: APC, ATM, AXIN2, BAP1, BARD1, BMPR1A, BRCA1, BRCA2, BRIP1, CDC73, CDH1, CDKN2A, CHEK2, DICER1, EPCAM, FH, FLCN, KIT, MAX, MEN1, MET, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, MUTYH, NBN, NF1, NF2, PALB2, PDGFRA, PMS2, POLD1, POLE, PTCH1, PTEN, RAD51C, RAD51D, RB1, RET, SDHA, SDHAF2, SDHB, SDHC, SDHD, SMAD4, SMARCA4, SMARCB1, STK11, TMEM127, TP53, TSC1, TSC2, VHL, WT1
Your genes affect how your body processes many common medicines. Some people break a medicine down too quickly for it to work well, and others too slowly, which raises the risk of side effects. This 21-gene panel looks at those differences for a wide range of medicines, including pain relief, anaesthetics, blood thinners, antidepressants and other psychiatric medicines, chemotherapy and statins.
Your results are incorporated into your ongoing health plan and reviewed with you as they become available.
Because your genes do not change, your pharmacogenomic report can remain useful throughout your life.
Genes tested: ABCG2, CACNA1S, CYP2B6, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, CYP4F2, DPYD, G6PD, HLA-A, HLA-B, IFNL4, MT-RNR1, NUDT15, RYR1, SLCO1B1, TPMT, UGT1A1, VKORC1
Ultimate includes an oral health assessment and saliva testing because gum health and oral inflammation can be relevant to wider cardiovascular and metabolic health.
We look at oral health alongside inflammatory markers and the rest of your screening rather than treating dentistry and medicine as completely separate.
The clinical saliva assessment measures six markers connected to oral and systemic health. The links between periodontal inflammation and cardiovascular disease, metabolic risk, and systemic inflammation are well evidenced, but the mouth is rarely included in a medical health screen. This is not a replacement for your dentist. It is an additional layer of clinical insight, collected during your GP assessment, that allows us to build a more complete picture of your health.
A lot of information. A short list of what matters.
Ultimate produces a very detailed picture of your health.
Your doctor’s job is to turn that information into a clear, prioritised plan.
We bring together your findings across:
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular health
- Metabolic health
- Brain health
- Inflammation and oral health
- Inherited cancer risk
- Pharmacogenomics
We then decide:
- What is reassuring
- What needs changing
- What needs monitoring
- What needs treatment
- What needs further investigation
- Whether your future screening should change
You leave with a prevention plan written specifically for you.
And because your doctor stays involved throughout the year, that plan evolves as new results arrive and your health changes.
Once your main results are ready, you meet with your personal doctor for a 60-minute consultation.
Rather than presenting a series of separate reports, your doctor brings your findings together across the main domains of your health, explains what matters and agrees your prevention plan with you.
Your genetic and pharmacogenomic results are incorporated as they become available.
This consultation can be in person, by video or by telephone.
And it is not the end of your Ultimate programme.
Your Ultimate programme includes scheduled check-ins with your personal doctor throughout the year.
These reviews allow us to:
- Check progress with your prevention plan
- Review treatment or lifestyle changes
- Discuss genetic or pharmacogenomic results
- Follow up outstanding investigations
- Discuss new health concerns
- Update your plan where needed
The aim is to keep your health plan active rather than giving you a large amount of information once and leaving you to manage it yourself.
Includes your 90-minute assessment, advanced blood testing, whole-body MRI, MRI body composition, VO₂ max testing, inherited cancer screening, pharmacogenomics, oral health assessment and Oral Genome testing, breast imaging for women where appropriate, 60-minute results consultation, personal doctor relationship, direct email access and scheduled quarterly health check-ins throughout the year.
Additional face-to-face, video or telephone consultations can be booked with your personal doctor during the year as needed at our standard consultation fee.
How your screening works
Step One
Meet your personal doctor
A 90-minute consultation at our Fulham clinic. Your doctor takes your full medical and family history, discusses your priorities, examines you and collects your blood, urine and oral health samples.
Step Two
Complete your advanced screening
Your whole-body MRI and VO₂max assessment take place at specialist centres in central London. Women also have breast imaging where appropriate. Your genetic and pharmacogenomic testing is processed by specialist laboratories.
Step Three
Results review and your prevention plan
A 60-minute consultation with your personal doctor. Your doctor brings the findings together across the main domains of your health and agrees a clear, prioritised prevention plan with you.
Step Four
Your doctor stays with you through the year
You have direct email access to your personal doctor and scheduled quarterly check-ins to review progress, discuss later results, follow up investigations or treatment and adapt your prevention plan as your health changes.
If something needs further investigation or specialist care, we stay involved.
Why Ultimate is different
One doctor, looking at the whole picture
Your personal doctor knows your history, reviews every part of your screening together and continues to oversee your health throughout the year.
Current health and inherited risk
Ultimate goes beyond what can be measured today by adding inherited cancer genetics and pharmacogenomics.
Inflammation & oral health
We include oral health because the mouth is part of the body. Gum health, oral inflammation and oral genomic findings are considered alongside wider cardiovascular and metabolic health.
A plan we keep working on
You do not just receive a report. We agree your priorities, follow up what needs action and review your progress throughout the year.
What Our Patients Say
Add multi-cancer early detection
Ultimate already includes genetic testing for inherited cancer risk. The one cancer test it doesn’t include is the multi-cancer early detection blood test, which looks for signals shared by many types of cancer, including several with no national screening programme. It is designed to be used alongside routine screening, not in place of it.

Built around how we believe preventive medicine should work
Coyne Medical was founded by Dr Hugh Coyne and Dr Lucy Hooper around a simple principle: use advanced diagnostics where they add value, understand both current and inherited risk, and keep one doctor responsible for bringing the whole picture together.
Ultimate is the fullest expression of that approach.

Yes. Continuity is a core part of Ultimate.
Your doctor reviews progress with your prevention plan, treatment or lifestyle changes, outstanding investigations, new concerns and later-arriving genetic or pharmacogenomic results.
Yes. Ultimate includes direct email access to your personal doctor between scheduled reviews. You can also book additional GP consultations as needed throughout the year.
Because oral health does not sit separately from the rest of the body. Ultimate includes an oral health assessment and OralGenome testing so that gum health and oral inflammation can be considered alongside your wider cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Most of our patients feel well when they come to us. Feeling well tells you very little about what is happening underneath, because the changes that matter most build over years without symptoms. Raised lipoprotein(a), visceral and liver fat, early metabolic change and inherited genetic variants are all invisible to how you feel, and most are not picked up by a standard health check. For most patients the outcome is reassurance backed by real data. For a small number, we find something at a point where it is easier to treat.
Both provide advanced imaging, body composition, VO₂ max, advanced blood analysis and the same year-long personal doctor relationship. Ultimate adds inherited cancer genetics, pharmacogenomics, oral health and Oral Genome testing, additional nutritional markers and breast imaging for women where appropriate.
We recommend fasting for at least eight hours before your assessment so your blood results are as accurate as possible. Water is fine to drink, and you should continue to take any regular medication as normal, including blood pressure tablets and other daily prescriptions. If fasting is difficult for any reason, let your doctor know at the start of your appointment so your results can be interpreted with that in mind. We will confirm all preparation instructions when you book.
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves rather than X-rays, so there is no radiation exposure, and no injection or contrast dye is needed. It is not suitable for everyone: some pacemakers, implants and metal fragments are not safe in an MRI scanner, and the imaging centre will check this with you before your scan. The scanner is noisy and some people find the space confined, so you will be given ear protection, and you can take a break at any point. If you are anxious about enclosed spaces, let us know when you book.
Ultimate includes a mammogram and breast ultrasound for women, carried out together at a specialist breast imaging centre in London. Ultrasound adds detail in dense breast tissue, where a mammogram alone can miss changes. The NHS breast screening programme invites women every three years from the age of 50, and we advocate annual mammograms from 40 for women at average risk. Your GP will advise on how often to repeat breast screening after your Ultimate screening, based on your results and family history.
Your GP assessment takes place at our Fulham clinic, and your whole body MRI and VO2 max test at specialist centres in W1, near Bond Street, which can be booked on the same day as each other. Women also have a mammogram and breast ultrasound at a specialist breast imaging centre. For most patients, we recommend spreading appointments across a few days. Occasionally your blood results or history mean we want to add a further test, such as a bone density scan or a CT coronary calcium score, and a little flexibility makes this easier to arrange. For international patients travelling to London, we can arrange everything on the same day or consecutive days, with a short call with your GP beforehand to plan it.
If your results show anything that needs further investigation, your GP will explain what it means, how certain it is, and what the options are. Many findings need only monitoring or a repeat test, and whole body MRI in particular can find minor changes that turn out to be harmless but need a follow-up scan to confirm. Where specialist care is needed, we refer you directly to consultants and imaging centres across London and stay involved in your care. You will not be left to interpret a result on your own.
Yes. We can arrange back-to-back assessments on the same day or on separate days. Contact us at reception@coynemedical.com to arrange this.
Health screening is not usually covered by standard private medical insurance, since it is preventive rather than treatment. Some corporate and executive benefit packages do include cover, so check directly with your insurer. We can provide a detailed receipt for any claim.
Most blood results are returned within five to seven working days, and MRI reports typically within five working days. We will book your 60-minute results consultation once these are ready. Your inherited cancer risk panel and pharmacogenomics results take around four weeks, and your GP will go through them with you at your three-month review. If anything needs prompt attention, your GP will contact you sooner.
In the UK, insurers follow the Code on Genetic Testing and Insurance, agreed between the government and the Association of British Insurers. Under the code, insurers cannot ask you to take a predictive genetic test, and cannot ask for or use the results of one. The only exception is life insurance over £500,000 where you have had a predictive test for Huntington’s disease, which is not part of this panel. Your GP can talk this through with you before you decide.
Your three-month review is included, and after that the same GP team is here for follow-up tests, referrals and ongoing care. Many patients return for screening each year, which shows how their results change over time without repeating the genetic tests.
More than a health screen.
A personal doctor for your health.
Understand your current health, uncover important inherited risks and have one doctor who knows the whole picture and stays involved throughout the year.
Book through your company
If you are a company director or business owner, your company can pay for your health screening as a tax-free benefit. Health screening is exempt from income tax and National Insurance as a benefit in kind, for one screening per employee each year. The same applies if you want to offer screening to your team.
