This test is ideal for adults at higher risk of cancer due to age, family history, or lifestyle factors. It’s also valuable for those seeking peace of mind.

• Aged 40 years of age or older
• Aged 35 to 39 years of age only if one of the following apply:
  • a family history of cancer
  • known to have an inherited cancer gene mutation e.g. BRCA1
  • obesity with a BMI over 30
  • type 2 diabetes
  • history of infectious disease linked to cancer e.g. hepatitis B or C
  • history of exposure to cancer causing chemical e.g. through work

The test has been validated in clinical trials, showing high sensitivity and specificity for cancer detection, especially for aggressive cancers.

• Trucheck™ Intelli is a blood test that can detect more than 70 types of early-stage cancer in people without any symptoms.
  • The sensitivity is 88.2% – meaning that for every 100 patients tested who have cancer, it will correctly identify 88 of those patients, resulting in a 12% false negative rate.
  • The specificity is 96% – meaning that for every 100 people tested, that do not have cancer, Trucheck ™ Intelli will correctly identify 96 of these individuals, resulting in a 4% false positive rate.
  • False positives occur in all screening tests, the 4% level in Trucheck tests compares very favourably with other cancer screening such as PSA testing (16-22%), FIT testing (10-12%) and mammograms (7-12% at first mammogram) which all have much higher false positive rates.

A positive result means circulating tumour cells have been detected. It is not a confirmed cancer diagnosis but a signal that warrants further investigation. The result will indicate the likely organ of origin, which helps direct any follow-up. Your GP will explain what this means for you and arrange appropriate next steps, which may include further tests or a specialist referral. You will not be managing this alone.

Results are typically available within approximately three weeks of your blood sample being taken. Your GP will be in touch as soon as they are ready to arrange your results consultation.

No. This test works alongside routine cancer screening such as mammograms, bowel screening, and cervical screening, not instead of them. Its value is in covering the many cancer types for which no routine screening programme exists. We would always encourage patients to keep up to date with any NHS screening they are eligible for, and to use this test as an additional layer of proactive monitoring.

The test screens for over 70 cancer types including breast, bowel, prostate, ovarian, lung, pancreatic, liver, kidney, bladder, cervical, oesophageal, stomach and thyroid cancers among others. It cannot detect blood or lymphatic system cancers such as leukaemia or lymphoma, as these do not produce the circulating tumour cells the test identifies.

No. This test is designed for people without symptoms. If you are experiencing symptoms that concern you, please contact us or your GP promptly for a consultation rather than arranging a screening test.

The test does not stage a cancer or determine whether it has spread. What it does is detect a signal at both early and late stages, which is significant because many cancers have no symptoms and no routine screening until they are already advanced. A positive result triggers targeted follow-up investigation, which is where staging would be determined. Finding a signal early, before symptoms appear, is where this test has the greatest potential value.

No. This test is designed for people with no previous cancer diagnosis. If you have had cancer and are looking for monitoring options, we would recommend speaking with your oncologist or treating doctor about tests appropriate to your specific situation.

There is no single answer as it depends on your age, family history, and risk profile. Many of our patients take it annually as part of their health screening. Your GP will discuss what frequency makes sense for you based on your individual circumstances and any results from previous tests.
