Up to 30 minutes’ advance review

Your doctor reviews your results and relevant reports before the appointment.

45 minutes with your personal doctor

Time to understand the findings properly and discuss your options.

Practical help with next steps

Referrals, nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, prescriptions and onward-care coordination where clinically appropriate.

What is a results review and second opinion consultation?

A results review and second opinion consultation is for people who already have blood tests, scan reports, health screening results or medical advice and want an experienced doctor to review the information in context.

We consider the findings alongside your symptoms, medical history and family history, explain what needs attention and help you decide whether treatment, monitoring, further testing or specialist input is appropriate. You might also benefit from advice on how you can change your nutrition or lifestyle habits.

The aim is not simply to explain individual numbers or findings. It is to understand what they mean for you and agree what should happen next.

Bring the whole picture together

Blood results, imaging and screening reports rarely make sense in isolation. We look at them alongside your symptoms, medical history, family history, previous investigations and concerns.

Understand what actually needs action

Not every abnormal result needs further testing or treatment. We help distinguish findings that need attention from those that can reasonably be monitored or left alone.

Get an independent medical review

If different doctors have given you different advice, or you are unsure whether another test or investigation is worthwhile, we can provide a considered second opinion.

Put the plan into action

Where appropriate, we can prescribe, refer you to a specialist, help identify suitable investigation centres and liaise with the relevant clinical teams. We can also make a plan for medication, lifestyle and nutrition changes.

When can this appointment help?

This service may be useful if:

  • You have had a health screening elsewhere and want to understand which findings genuinely need attention.
  • Your blood tests have raised questions about your current health or longer-term risk.
  • A scan report recommends further investigation, specialist review or monitoring.
  • You have results from several providers and want one doctor to bring the picture together.
  • You have already received medical advice but would like an independent second opinion.
  • You are unsure whether another scan, blood test or investigation is actually worthwhile.
  • You need help finding an appropriate specialist or arranging further investigations.
  • You have results from outside the UK and want help deciding what to do next.

You do not need to be an existing Coyne Medical patient.

This is not a specialist image re-reporting service. If you need the scan images themselves reviewed again by a specialist radiologist, rather than a review of the radiologist’s report, we can help arrange this separately.

If you have a very large volume of records or are looking for a second opinion on a complex established diagnosis, please contact us before booking so we can make sure this is the right appointment.

What matters now?

Which findings are most relevant to your current health?

What changes your risk?

Do the results change what we know about your longer-term cardiovascular, cancer, metabolic or other health risks?

Do you actually need more investigation?

Would another test, scan or specialist opinion change what happens next?

What should you do now?

Treatment, monitoring, referral, changes to lifestyle or nutrition, further testing or reassurance, with clear priorities.

You leave the consultation with an agreed plan for the next steps.

What can change after a results review?

Depending on your results and circumstances, the right next step may be:

  • No further action.
  • Repeating or monitoring a result.
  • Changing treatment or medication.
  • Changing your nutrition or lifestyle.
  • Arranging a further blood test or scan.
  • Seeking a specialist opinion.
  • Arranging a specialist radiology review.
  • Making changes to reduce future health risk.
  • Coordinating further care in the UK or abroad.

Sometimes the most useful outcome is deciding that no additional testing is needed.

How it works

Step One

Book and send your reports

Please send your results and relevant medical correspondence at least three working days before your appointment.

Let us know your main concerns and the questions you would particularly like answered.

Step Two

Your doctor reviews the information

Your fee includes up to 30 minutes of advance review, so your doctor can prepare before meeting you.

If your records require more extensive review, we will discuss the options and any additional fee with you before proceeding.

Step Three

Discuss the findings and agree a plan

During your 45-minute consultation, we explore the relevant medical history, explain your results and discuss your options.

There is time to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind the recommendations.

Step Four

Arrange the next steps

Where needed, we provide prescriptions or referral letters arising from the consultation and help identify suitable specialists or investigation providers.

We can also liaise with the relevant clinical teams to support the agreed plan.

Understanding a result is only part of the process.

Where clinically appropriate, your fee includes prescriptions and referral letters arising from the consultation.

If further investigations or specialist care are recommended, we can also:

  • Make a plan which fits with your wider medical history and lifestyle.
  • Research suitable specialists or investigation providers.
  • Draw on our professional network and contacts to identify appropriate options.
  • Help identify a specialist with the relevant expertise for your particular problem.
  • Help identify an appropriate centre for further investigations.
  • Share clinical information with your consent.
  • Liaise with the relevant specialist or clinical team.
  • Help coordinate the agreed next steps in the UK or abroad.
