Women's Health Guides from our GPs

Women’s health is broader than reproductive health, and for too long too much of it has been under-researched, under-diagnosed, and under-discussed.

Women’s health spans a wide range of clinical areas: hormones, menstrual health, perimenopause, fertility, cancer screening, cardiovascular risk, and child health. What many of these areas share is that they reward detailed, unhurried conversation with a doctor who is up to date on the evidence and takes the time to listen. These guides are written primarily for our female patients, covering the conditions and questions we hear most often, from what perimenopause actually looks like in practice, to breast density and what it means for your mammogram, to how cardiovascular risk in women differs from and is frequently underestimated compared to men.

Our Approach

We take women’s health seriously in the broadest sense of that phrase. That means not dismissing symptoms as stress or hormones without proper investigation. It means being current on the evidence around HRT, which has shifted considerably over the past decade. It means recognising that breast density is something every woman who has had a mammogram should know about: women with extremely dense breasts have their cancer detection rate on a standard mammogram drop as low as 24%, and may benefit from supplementary MRI or ultrasound. We are also one of the first GP clinics in the UK to offer the Ziwig Endotest, a saliva-based test for early endometriosis detection, for patients who have struggled to get a clear answer through standard routes. These are the conversations we have in clinic every week. These guides bring them online. Women’s health consultations, including hormonal health, perimenopause, and breast screening with density assessment, are available as GP consultations or as part of our health screening packages.
